Portsmouth police chief resigns

Posted in PTown Follies, Portsmouth on May 6, 2008 by Grumpy

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again.  Ed Long is a nice guy.  Lousy Chief but a nice guy.

Police Chief Edward Long has resigned, effectively immediately, according to a news release sent by the Office of the City Manager Tuesday.

I had heard about this…

Posted in GOT to be kidding, bloggers, blogs on April 23, 2008 by Grumpy

I had heard about some serious communications problems in Portsmouth.  I had no idea it was this bad though.

Jim at Portsmouth Virginia Police Department says this:

Their are significant coverage problems with the current system when an employee is using a handheld radio in Churchland. In December of last year an officer was out on patrol and came across a volatile situation. During the course of the incident his handheld radio was not able to be received by the police dispatchers in the 911 center to send him help. He was holding a suspect at gunpoint that had just brandished a firearm at another person while restraining a second suspect. Click on the word audio to listen to the audio and hear for yourself how bad the radio problem can be.

There is a link in the text to an audio file of some communications problems.  He’s included some email too.

I sure hope he isn’t trying to get his job back TOO hard.  He’s definitely not making friends with this website.  My kinda guy!!!

Two words.  DUMB ASS.

As if the PD doesn’t have enough to deal with.  Way to go bud…

Ann Hope, a police spokeswoman, said Officer Wayne Sherman was charged after the vehicle he was driving allegedly struck the rear of another in the Midtown Tunnel.

I don’t know Jim Conrad, or the details behind his leaving the Police Department. I heard there were some terminations.

But it looks like Conrad has an ax to grind and is getting ready to go public.

I like this guy already!!!

Go get ‘em Jim!!! Let’s share resources!!! Or snippets of information anyway!!!

Timothy Kaine is an absolute certifiable IDIOT!

Kaine?  Go home.  Resign.  Get yourself a hooker and resign.  You are the most absolutely WORTHLESS excuse for a governor that I have ever seen in all my years.

Gov. Timothy M. Kaine on Tuesday stayed the scheduled execution of a convicted Winchester murderer until the U.S. Supreme Court issues a pending ruling on the constitutionality of lethal injection.

What a moron.

I hope you sleep well at night.  What if this clown had killed your brother?  Daughter?  Wife?  How would you feel then?  I am going to raise my curse level.  GOD DAMMIT THIS PISSES ME THE FUCK OFF!!!

Now I feel better.  Please resign.  Go away.  Move to Berkeley California.

Latest rumors around P-Town

Posted in PTown Follies, Portsmouth on April 1, 2008 by Grumpy
  • City of Portsmouth Police Radio System is hosed.  Officers are complaining to the City Manager that some areas of the city are unsafe to work…  not because of the criminals…  but because the police radios don’t work.  Apparently someone installed equipment in cars that is supposed to make this problem go away, but it’s also my understanding that this system is wrought with problems and limitations.
  • I’ve heard other rumors that 25 - 35 officers are applying out and trying to leave the City of Portsmouth’s Police Department.  Considering they only have 250, that’s pretty substantial.
  • Two officers fired for lying?  Maybe the Cinton Campaign is hiring.   Did they lie in court?

Well thats the latest from the rumor mill.  I’ll have to pay a little closer attention in the weeks that come.

Some things I have noticed around town.

  • Elizabeth Psimas is running for re-election.  Good.  She’s a good egg.  I hope she wins.  Everyone should support her.
  • Ray Smith Jr., the bullying Councilman is running for re-election.  He’s a bad egg.  If you remember, he is the one that broke the law by trying to bully the Portsmouth Police Department into something they were and had already handled appropriately.  The audio is on here somewhere.  I don’t feel like looking for it.
  • Charles Whitehurst is trying to get elected back to Council.  Isn’t he the one that quit with his panties all bunched up because the Pilot or someone was looking at his inappropriate emails or something?  May he and Bill “Yuk Yuk” Moody are going to hook back up.  Hey guys, call Eliot Spitzer, he has some sound political career advice for you.
  • I see signs for Morrison for City Council.  Is that Cynthia Morrison?  The Clerk of the Court?  I’ve met her.  Nice lady.  NOT the politician type though.  But good luck if it is.

Thats it for now.  More when I get it.

Well damn…

I wonder how much money the city is pumping into this?  Any?

PORTSMOUTH

City officials released sketches last week of a new full-service Holiday Inn that is scheduled to open next year.

Construction on the project will begin later this year once the city approves necessary building permits, Portsmouth’s director of economic development, Steven Lynch, said.

The $7 million, five-story hotel, being developed by Olde Towne Hospitality LLC, will be built on almost 4 acres adjacent to Interstate 264 in downtown Portsmouth.

The hotel, which will have 120 rooms, is smaller than the Holiday Inn on Crawford Parkway, which is scheduled to close this fall.

Construction of the new hotel is expected to take 10 months, Lynch said.

As part of the franchise agreement, the project must be completed by April 2009, he said.

Well Mr. Barack Hussein Obama… am I typical? I think not.

Posted in Democrat, GOT to be kidding, Gripes Generally, Have they lost their minds, Obama, Politics, The Weekly Gripe, idiots on March 21, 2008 by Grumpy

typical

Main Entry: typ·i·cal
Pronunciation: \ˈti-pi-kəl\
Function: adjective
Etymology:  Late Latin typicalis, from typicus, from Greek typikos, from typos model — more at type
Date:  1609

1: constituting or having the nature of a type : symbolic

2 a: combining or exhibiting the essential characteristics of a group <typical suburban houses> b: conforming to a type <a specimen typical of the species>

During an interview at a Philadelphia radio station, Barack Obama said “But she is a typical white person. If she sees somebody on the street that she doesn’t know. . .there’s a reaction in her that doesn’t go away and it comes out in the wrong way.”  Sen. Obama, what’s a “typical white person?” | Bearing Drift

Well well well.  I don’t think I like my race being called typical.  That’s just like saying “you people”.  Isn’t it?  “You people” who go to Trinity United Church of Christ.  Or, “you people” who grew up in the hills of Kentucky.  Or “you people” with dark skin, or “you people” with white skin and blonde hair.

Maybe all white men with bald heads and blue eyes are of the Arian Nation?  You know…  you people with WASP blood running through your veins.

If John McCain, or George Bush (or John Kerry or Al Gore) were to make the statement, “Typical black person…” and finish it anyway you want, the fucking lid would come off and all hell would break loose.  Sharpton, Jackson and Wright would have their faces plastered all over the television sets over that.

I am offended.  I am pissed.  I would simply vote for ANYONE who runs against you.  Period.  And your wife?  No better.

Mrs. Obama said: “as a Black man, he could get shot at a gas station.”

Barack HUSSEIN Obama is a racist.  Period.  Whether he wants to be or not, makes no difference.  He is.  What freaking difference does it make what color your skin is when at a gas station?   Absolutely absurd.

You are playing political “damage control”.  First you accept (for over 17 years) the racist, inflammatory, anti-American teachings and endorsements of Jeremiah Wright Jr., then when the heat gets cranked up you denounce him.  Then you accept the endorsement of the HATE GROUP The New Black Panther Party, your campaign staff tries to sidestep it and when the heat gets cranked…  they join the ranks of Jeremiah Wright and disappear off of your website.

The time to develop a moral backbone was before you decided to run for president.  Not after and during the campaign.  Because you know, or should have known, the entire country was going to be in your life with a microscope.

You, Barack Hussein Obama are a typical racistAnd there are no colors of skin exempt from that title.

Nappy headed ho’s BAAAAAAD…

But Reverend Jeremiah Wright Jr’s comments are simply taken out of context…

I’m just thinking that the same people didn’t think twice about taking 45 seconds out of 3 hours per day, five days per week for 30 years from Don Imus out of context!

I got a Dear Grumpy letter…

Posted in Fun, humor on March 15, 2008 by Grumpy

Heh. My emphasis added again…

Dear Grumpy Gustav (I know its a fake name),
I am a great fan of your insightful writings on the http://grumpysgripes.wordpress.com/. Its quite encouraging to read your blog-posts and primarily I enjoy them because of their philosophical-perspective and generic nature. Grumpy, I would humbly like to inform you about our London based startup Kindo.com - which is essentially a social network connecting family members across the globe.
I’ve been called a lot of things in my life, but philosophical and generic in the same sentence… NEVER. LOL
Here’s the rest of the letter:
Grumpy, we have also created brand new star family-tree pages. The latest addition is Barack Obama’s Family tree
An overview of all our trees: http://kindo.com/blog/celebrity-family-trees/en
Kindo.com Blog http://www.kindo.com/blog

With the emergence of multiple social networks there’s every reason for an average user to think, do I really need another social-network, I’d say the best way to judge that question is to take a look yourself and see if it is solving a key problem for you as a user. I would request you to kindly take a look at Kindo.com and let us know your thoughts and it would be a privelege if you would share it with your readers on the blog.

Looking forward to hear from you Grumpy. Please take a look and let me know your thoughts about the same Grumpy.
Regards,
Mr. Sharma

Street named for fallen Suffolk officer

Portsmouth City Council?  Ahem….  my emphasis added thank you very much…

The name change was made by Suffolk City Council in January as a municipal tribute for Officer William “Drew” Henley, who died while on duty in March of 2005.

Well he did it…

Posted in Democrat, Obama, Politics on March 14, 2008 by Grumpy

Good for him.  I’m still not voting for him but Mrs. Grumpy might.

The pastor of my church, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who recently preached his last sermon and is in the process of retiring, has touched off a firestorm over the last few days. He’s drawn attention as the result of some inflammatory and appalling remarks he made about our country, our politics, and my political opponents.

Let me say at the outset that I vehemently disagree and strongly condemn the statements that have been the subject of this controversy. I categorically denounce any statement that disparages our great country or serves to divide us from our allies. I also believe that words that degrade individuals have no place in our public dialogue, whether it’s on the campaign stump or in the pulpit. In sum, I reject outright the statements by Rev. Wright that are at issue.
